It happens every winter. Buffalo head down from Yellowstone in search of food. They are chased and hazed back into the park where food is scarce, or they are killed.
This all came about from a very exaggerated fear that these iconic animals will spread disease to livestock. Their environment and habitat has been cut to a fraction of what it once was and they have been hunted almost to extinction. Can’t we just leave them be?
What is more symbolic of the frontier history of the United States than the wild horse and the buffalo? The Yellowstone buffalo are the few remaining descendants of the herds that once roamed the grasslands of this country. They deserve better treatment than this.
Please sign the letter to Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar. Tell the government to find a better way to treat the Yellowstone buffalo herd.
Thank you for all you do for animals and the environment.
